Abstract

The article analyzes one of the main features of contemporary television series - that they stimulate the formation of a "culture of misunderstanding." Their key tool to support action, to search for new plots, to construct artificial images, to enhance tension is creating misunderstandings. That brings a certain mentality among those who watch the series - not to try to sit on the table of negotiations to solve their problems, but wasting time and nerves on unnecessary suspicions, conflicts and battles.

The article analyzes the impact of this "culture of misunderstanding" on the subjects and the development of modern protest events and communities.
