Еducation, Monasticism and Parenting in Ancient Hagiography Literature from Ninth to Sixteenth Century
Abstract
There are many examples of education in schools, training and education in monasteries in the Old hagiography Literature from IX to XVI. This paper is based on a thorough study of life and education of the Slavic educators Cyril-Constantine, Methodius, Clement and Naum; life and education of hermits Ivan Rilsky, Prohor Pshinsky, Gabriel Lesnovsky, Joachim Osogovsky; life and education of Women - Saints Julia Filotheya Temnishka, Paraskeva Epivatska; life and education of government and church leaders Michael Soldier, Patriarch Joachim the First, Ilarion Maglenski, Metropolitan Peter, Theodosius from Tarnovo, Romil from Vidin and others.
After a deep study of hagiography works are drawn conclusions on the education and training received in schools and monasteries, for monasticism, martyrdom and parenting. The study determines the need for guidance the spiritual life, for learning and improving the human beings, for support in bereavement and resist temptation as in the past and in the present.
